About the event

The event is called Startup Weekend Latino Markets and it will be held at MOZ on May 1st-3rd, 2015. The event is open anyone and everyone.

What is Startup Weekend?
"Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable. People from all career backgrounds, from technical, to designers, to non technical, come together to work on building a app throughout the weekend.

Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, and building a prototype. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts and judges."

Why Startup Weekend Latino?
Latinos make up less than 5% of the tech industry, yet many companies in tech are looking to expand to emerging markets including LATAM. The purpose of Startup Weekend Latino is to create an event that brings Latinos who are in Tech, Latinos who may be interested in tech but don't know how to get involved, and allies of the latino and tech community; all together to spur innovation and to help diversify the tech industry.
