About our event

When we first started Smoke Over Holston, it wasn't just about barbecue. We wanted to create something our community could look forward to every year—a weekend where people could gather, enjoy great food, meet new people, and make memories together.

As a volunteer fire department, we don't just put on this event to have a competition. We do it because every dollar raised helps us continue serving the people who count on us. It helps provide equipment, training, and supplies that allow us to answer calls and be ready when our neighbors need us most.

But what means the most to us isn't the money—it's seeing the community come together. It's watching families walk around with barbecue in their hands, seeing teams from different places become friends, local businesses supporting one another, and everyone enjoying a weekend together.

Smoke Over Holston has become more than a fundraiser. It's become a tradition. It's a chance to give back to the community that has always supported us and to show what a small volunteer fire department can accomplish with the help of great people.

Whether you're cooking, sponsoring, setting up as a vendor, volunteering, or just stopping by to enjoy some amazing barbecue, you're part of what makes this event special. We couldn't do it without you, and we hope you'll be a part of Smoke Over Holston for years to come.

Sponsorship Opportunities

When you sponsor Smoke Over Holston, you're doing more than putting your name on a banner—you're investing in the people and the community we all call home.

Your support helps the Green Spring Volunteer Fire Department continue providing emergency services, training, and equipment to the people we proudly serve. As a volunteer department, we rely on the generosity of local businesses and community members to help us stay prepared for whatever call comes next.

Sponsoring this event is also a great way to show your customers that your business believes in supporting the community. Your business will be recognized throughout the event and in our promotions, but more importantly, you'll be helping make a difference right here at home.

Smoke Over Holston is built on community support. From the teams that travel to compete, to the families who attend, to the volunteers who work behind the scenes, every person plays a role in making the weekend a success. We invite you to be part of that tradition.

Thank you for considering becoming a sponsor. Your support helps strengthen our community and ensures we can continue serving our neighbors when they need us most.

Green Spring Volunteer Fire Department is made up of ordinary people with everyday jobs who have one thing in common—a commitment to serving our community. When the pager goes off, we leave our jobs, our families, and whatever we're doing to answer the call.

Our members come from all walks of life. We have EMS professionals, career firefighters, mechanics, factory and shop workers, construction workers, office employees, business owners, retirees, students, and many others. No matter what we do for a living, when someone in our community needs help, we all become firefighters and first responders.

Being a volunteer isn't something we do for a paycheck. We do it because we care about our neighbors and want to make a difference. We spend countless hours training, maintaining equipment, raising funds, and preparing ourselves so we're ready when the next emergency happens.

Green Spring Volunteer Fire Department is built on dedication, teamwork, and community. We are proud to serve the place we call home, and we're grateful for everyone who stands behind us and supports what we do.
