CODE | Debugging the Gender Gap,

Google campus, London, England, United Kingdom Google campus, London, England, United Kingdom

  • About the event

SheCanCode is really excited to host our first film screening.  Join us for an evening of networking, popcorn & prosecco

We will be screening CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap

    About the Film

Tech jobs are growing three times faster than our colleges are producing computer science graduates. By 2020, there will be one million unfilled software engineering jobs in the USA. Through compelling interviews, artistic animation and clever flashpoints in popular culture, CODE documentary examines the reasons why more girls and people of color are not seeking opportunities in computer science and explores how cultural mindsets, stereotypes, educational hurdles and sexism all play roles in this national crisis. Expert voices from the worlds of tech, psychology, science, and education are intercut with inspiring stories of women who are engaged in the fight to challenge complacency in the tech industry and have their voices heard. CODE aims to inspire change in mindsets, in the educational system, in startup culture and in the way women see themselves in the field of coding.

    Why should you sponsor?

To screen the film, it would cost us £400. This is before any other costs for food and drink, goodie bags or operational costs. We expect the event to cost around £1,000.

We are looking for sponsors as we believe this is a cause that people should support. We don't want to allow barriers to entry to prevent a diverse group of attendees, and this would be against our mission. SheCanCode does not currently generate any cash flow and it would be really awesome if we could get this event sponsored.

We will be hosting founders of tech companies, technology venture capitalists, software engineers, women looking to enter the industry, etc. There will be a wide range of attendees and your products will most certainly get visibility. We would also include your branding on our site and in our goodie bags.

Food Sponsor

We are really looking for some popcorn! Any other snacks that you think would be great to accompany a film would be awesome too. I want to promote healthy living among this audience, so the healthier your snack, the better!

Drink Sponsor

We would love to have some prosecco at the event! Popcorn and prosecco goes so well together! That being said, there are always people that don't drink, so any suggestions would be welcome. Again, we prefer to stick to healthier drink options (not that prosecco is very healthy :D) By this I mean, we are attracting a predominantly female audience, so preferably healthy drinks and we would like to stay away from the stereotypical 'pizza and beer'.
