Seizure Free for Adam,

Cincinnati, Ohio, United States Cincinnati, Ohio, United States

  • About the event

My best friend Adam has been suffering from re-occuring seizures, including Grand Mal. These started in September of 2014. They have been happening every 3-6 months since.

Every time one of these seizures occur, he is hospitalized for, at times as long as a week. Then has a 3 month probationary period in which he is unable to drive. It has been a great strain to him and his family. He is a father of 2 boys both under the age of 4. The Hospital doctors have not been able to pinpoint any conditions, nor have any answers for why they keep popping back up. So he and his wife Maggie are going to The Mayo Clinic in Minnesota in September and need some help footing the bill.

Their goal is $5,000 they reached $1700 as of this morning on their gofundme page.

I have some resources, both people and assets for creating a Video Game event. My ideas for the event would resemble a picnic of sorts. Tables are set up in a 1000 person capacity venue with power available for whatever kind of gaming you would need, including network access.

You would bring a TV, computer, game console, projector etc. Plug up and play with the group of people you brought along or team up and play other groups. Tables will be reservable. But if you don't have a group or don't want to bring your equipment around, I will have some things set up in which you will be able to play in some friendly competitions/tournaments around the venue. One payment will get you into the door for the day, unless there are food vendors that choose to sponsor the event.

There will be a grand prize, whatever we can budget in, like a gaming console etc. This will be raffled off to those who come to the event. There will be other raffle prizes set up too.

All while this fun and gaming is going on. There will be a chart with the link to the gofundme page.(along with any sponsor logos) There will be an up to the hour respresentation to how close they are to the goal, trying to make it a competition of sorts. A "See how fast we can reach this goal together" sort of thing.

    Why should you sponsor?

With this event in such a small market the odds of being able to get News Story Coverage on the local channels is very high. Heart-touching story of a father battling seizures etc.

If you're big on, on-site signage. There will be plenty of room for banners and space for tablecloths with your logo on them etc.

We will be making T-shirts and will be putting any logos/sponsor names on them.

Longer, all-indoor event. Lots of time for those there to soak up your logo/name.

Video Game Players are huge on being connected. Having a sign/infolet with your facebook/twitter other social media and content information will be easily accesible for those who are at the event.

Because of the length of event, there will be a great opportunity for food/drink vendors to showcase thier products. Things like snack food and energy drinks are very popular in that demographic. Although any kind of food would be widely accepted at this event. Those offering thier product for free or for a one time fee instead of per customer purchase basis are more desired, however will not be removed from the selection process based on that fact alone.

    Robert Rogers

My Name is Robert Rogers. I've been organizing events and parties for the last couple of years, mostly for birthday and holiday gatherings. Both paid and free events.

I haven't tried for sponsors for events until now. The ambitions have grown in the past couple of years and the occasional backyard themed barbeque event is becoming less and less interesting and or challenging to plan.

Some of the events organized in the last 3 years:

    R.A.D. (Rob Adam Decathalon)

Planned events have including a decathalon for my friend Adam and I's 27th birthday which including tournament style video games, flag football, chipotle catering and several other events. 50+ showed up to an event at a local residence for competition and friend. There was a head cost to cover food etc. Organization included getting teams of 4 situated in different locations simultaneously on different setups and venues. Coordination of over 108 individual game discs, tvs/monitors, game systems sports equipment as well as food and drink to keep 50+ occupied for a 12 hour event. Having indidual prizes or take home items for participants from vendors and sponsors would have been a great oppotunity that I squandered with this Late March affair.

    Bachelor Party Flag Football Day

Because my best man, Adam was in and out of the hospital with the start of his seizrues and didn't have the money nor the time to plan my bachelor party. So i attempted to get with the Cincinnati Bengals to allow me to use thier stadium for a flag football game, but training camp preseason etc. plus a huge liability insurance fee caused me to go with my second option, "The Pit". The storied field for the Elder Panthers, a huge high school mainstay here in Cincinnati. I procured a bus to take the 50+ players and family and friends to the stadium, where we ran drills, 40 yard dashes, culminating in a huge 11 on 11 game of flag football that had basically full contact for blocking etc. It would have been really great if I had gotten some sponsors for each of the teams to place on the jerseys that I had made for the event.

    Annual NFL Draft Party

Every year we have about 15-20 NFL fans over to watch the first round of the NFL draft. We make all of the normal food items, dips, wings etc. We have everyone fill out a mock draft and put money in the pot and it's Winner Takes ALL! Because of how different the national media views prosepcts over how the team actually does, the results are always all over the place. We have a giant draft board that has the teams order and a list of the top 100 (mean over media) players on foamcore board and after every pick there is a visual respresntation on the board. Having a sponsored beer or snack to showcase in our many social media posts that happen that day would have been an excellent addition to this annual tradition.

    (Upcoming) Video Game Release Gatherings

The next one will be the upcoming November release of Call of Duty: WWII. We have preliminary numbers suggesting upwards of 30 people in attendance. There will be several rooms in a residence retro-fitted for housing several players and game systems. We will have it set up for players to all play together. As an IT specialist I do a lot of networking infrastructure work, this will come in handy as a lot of tests will need to be run in the upcoming months to ensure that everyone has a solid connection. This will be an overnight affair so energy drinks/snacks sponsorships would be an excellent edition and would easily boost their social media activity for the day/night.

(Upcoming) Adam's Trip to Mayo Fundraiser (Name in progress)

My best friend has been suffering from seizures since 2014. Doctors in the area cannot pinpoint causation nor figure out a solution to slow them down. He has had one every couple months or so in the last 3 years. He and his wife have decided to go to Minnesota to the Mayo Clinic to see some seizure specialists out there. They have 2 boys under the age of 4 at home so money is tight. They have a goal of $5,000 to help pay for the two weeks in Minnesota. They have been chipping away at it steadily for the past month with their gofundme page, but it has slowed down. They are still almost $3300 away from thier goal and I decided to throw a fundraiser to try and raise as much money as possible for them.

I have some resources, both people and assets for creating a Video Game event. My ideas for the event would resemble a picnic of sorts.
