This is our first attempt to increase learning opportunity for students and community in Sarawak, the Land of Borneo. We want to encourage more people to learn about other's culture, namely Japanese culture to create mutual respect towards cultural differences. We wish to educate future generation to respect what seem to be different from their own, producing better individuals. In addtion, this event will be facilitated by some Japanese who work in Malaysia so the authenticity of the atmosphere can be increased.
Sarawak Bon Fest will flood the venue with exciting sights and sounds of Japanese music, giving people an insight of the most exciting Bon Festival in Japan. Visitors will be able to relive their experience if they have attended one in Japan but this will be a experience booster for the first timers. This is an event not only to show some gists of the Japanese Bon festival but more of encouraging a cultural understanding among Japanese Language learners but also to give the Japanese community who lives in Malaysia, a heart-warming experience.
Learners in other states have shown tremendous interest and improvement in their learning of Japanese Language over the years under highly immersive environment in Peninsular. With such concept in mind, Sekolah Menengah Sains Miri is hoping to provide equal opportunity to students in Borneo despite their economic background. We also hope to build a network among the learners so that they can learn to reach out to others outside the school. Educating future generation is no longer about imparting knowledge but more of practicality and authenticity.
The success of Sarawak Bon Fest is an indicator or a strong support from the community. The fund collected will be 100% utilised for the event from promotion to implementation to motivate and encourage Japanese Language Learners as well as understanding among community members. Sarawak Bon Fest will provide a valuable network of volunteer interests and talent for Japanese Language and Culture.
Sarawak Bon Fest relies on individual and corporate contributions so that we may provide a conducive environment to deliver an education and cultural platform at a higher quality to students and self-learners as well as the public.
Sarawak Bon Fest offers a wide range of opportunities to meet your company’s marketing goals, including attendance of hundreds and a customized sponsorship program that will enable you to:
As this is currently a work based on very tight budget, we really appreciate if there will be people who can support us in this event. You will be able to see what happened and also the feedback of the participating audience as we will also be distributing questionnaires for future improvement. There will not be any hidden agenda nor personal interest involved. Thank you.
I am a secondary school teacher, teaching both English and Japanese Language to students aged between 13 and 17. I believe in fun learning and I hope to give my students opportunity to apply what they have learnt in school, reaching out to the community for better future. Learning without applying it in life nor contributing to the society bring no meaning to education. I do not wish to gain any profit and sincerely hope for people who agree with me on this to give me financial support. School has lots of commitments and we have limited budget on reaching out activity such as this. I earnestly pray for those who are touched in any way to reach out to us through our event website at http://sarawakbonfest.com.
