About the event
We have partnered wih the American Childhood Cancer Organization (ACCO) in order for us to be able to organize non profit events in order to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research and to help out families in need of financial help who are also going thru the same thing we once did.
We will be hosting a Childhood Cancer Awareness 5k run on september 3rd 2016 in Alice, tx at the Anderson Park. The run will start at 8 a.m. There is a $25 registration fee. For more information visit facebook and search Sal's journey of hope foundation or acco.org/sal.
Why should you sponsor?
I think that not only a sponsor should support our event but our whole community as well. Childhood cancer research only gets 4% of government funding.That is not enough for our kids. Our kids are the future of tomorrow. We would like to be able to assist families financially when the government doesnt, We went through it and we saw first hand how hard it was to get any type of help. It took a while for us to get any help. The financial stress that the families with a child with cancer goes tru its unbelievable. We had friends who lost their jobs, houses because they needed to be with their child in hospitals for a long period of time. We ourselves spent 1 whole year in the hospital.
So i ask, please help us by sponsoring our event. Your donation could help us help someone who is having a hard time paying their bills, it will help us deliver a little bit of joy to the kids in the hospitals with our joy jars.
magdalena RosasMy name is magdalena Rosas and i have a son who was diagnosed with ATRT a brain tumor at the age of 2. His name is Salvador and he is now 5 years old. Sal as we call him endured 28 days of radiation, 3 rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.
The survival rate for a child with atrt is not very much and doctors were not giving us very good chances, but here is sal 2 years later fighting for his life.
