    We have a dream to deliver +/-5000 career guidance books to random schools under Intsika Yethu Municipality, these will include:  Bursary information pack, Post school career guide, career guidance manual, Opportunities for further learning, Apply now guide etc. 


    1.     The Organisation

    1.1 Organisation name:

    Imvelaphi Yam Development, shortened name (IYD). The phrase “Imvelaphi Yam” is isiXhosa name meaning “My Background”

    Imvelaphi Yam Development is a registered Non-Profit Organization with a registration No. : 138-877 NPO which was established around April 2011, but became a non-profit organization in April 2014


    1.2       Vision

    To prepare rural communities to make ethical and moral choices for their lives.


    1.3Six aims that comprise our mission

    To uplift and empower our community by means of crime prevention, HIV/AIDS, Counselling, education and training through youth development. An HIV free, skilled rural youth with all the necessary resources and motivation required to succeed. To empower, uplift and enhance the living standards and skills of the people of our community. To make a difference to the lives of all poor, needy, sick, starving and illiterate people in our community. Our mission is nothing less than keeping youth isolated in wrong community groups, such as keeping them away the streets, taking drugs, and alcohol. To use education as a key tool to eradicate poverty, crime and unemployment

     

    2.     Experience on organizing events successful

    We have organized quite a lot of events under IYD since 2011 when we started. Our last event was on the 24th July 2015 (IYD Career Expo 2015). We were sponsored by different organizations including Boxer Superstore, Sesethu Service PTY (LTD), Constituency office etc.

     

    We have partnered with different institutions including NYDA, Department of Social Development, Local Municipality, Department of Labour, some of the SETA’s etc.
