About the event

Flugtag (German for "Flying Day") has been a summer spectacle for fans and pilots alike since the inaugural event in Vienna, Austria in 1991. The event has taken place each year since in over 35 cities around the globe. This August, teams will be taking the plunge into Boston's Charles River for the very first time.

The goal is simple; build a man-powered flying machine that will be launched from a 28ft pier. The farthest flight will be forever honored in the hearts of thousands of Boston spectators. Throughout the day, entertainment value is prioritized over engineering briliance. Each craft has it's own theme, competitors are required to perfrom a 30 second routine prior to their launch, and there will be food and fun for all ages surrounding the event. Why should you sponsor?

Taking advantage of Red Bull's massive media presence, this event provides a unique opportunity for potential sponsors to expose their brand to a massive audience that promotes energy, engineering, and relaxed summer entertainment. 

The expected Boston live audience for the event is 40,000+, while yearly online impressions exceed 100,000 per year. In the past, event attendance has exceeded 80,000, and the most popular online videos accumulate over a million views. 

We are offering several opportunities for sponsorship exposure during and leading up to the event. Possible areas for company branding include:

The Flying Franks are excited to announce their participation in this year's Red Bull Flugtag Event, taking place on and around the Charles River Esplanade this August.

Consisting of recent Northeastern engineering and architecture graduates, The Flying Franks will defy everything you thought you knew about hot dog aerodynamics. The team has decided to build a hot dog theme craft, with a giant rolling bun, and a pilot that will glide into the sky wearing a weiner suit. Preceeding the launch, a choreographed display of condiment-slinging absurdity will be performed to music. We can not wait to build our craft!
