RAZA Graduation Celebration 2018,

Cal Poly Pomona, Pomona, California, United States Cal Poly Pomona, Pomona, California, United States

  • About the event

The RAZA Graduation Celebration is a beautiful event that takes place the week before University Commencement. The purpose of the ceremony is to celebrate students' personal success and academic achievements in the spirit and traditions of the Latino culture. The celebration is dedicated to the graduates’ families and is bilingual. The ceremony is open to all graduating students (undergraduate and graduate) and it allows graduates the opportunity to publicly thank those who have helped them throughout their educational careers. Each graduate will have a few seconds on the microphone to address the audience.

    Why should you sponsor?

We have a potential of 4500 in reach for people coming from Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, San Bernardino, Inland Empire and San Diego counties. This event is targeted for recent graduates from Cal Poly Pomona for students of Latino/Hispanic descent. Some graduates will be first-generation college graduates, who will soon go into the workforce shortly after the graduation celebration. This is the 24th Annual Graduation Celebration, which originally started back in 1985. And, this year will be the largest graduation on campus to date with 500 graduates participating in our event.

I am writing on behalf of The César E. Chávez Center for Higher Education (CECCHE). CECCHE is committed to increasing the outreach, recruitment, retention, graduation and cultural pride of Chicanxs/Latinxs at Cal Poly Pomona. The center offers numerous opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills through workshops, trainings, conference attendance and assistance on program planning. Students benefit from a variety of workshops and services that promote multicultural education and diversity. Students experience diversity education by participating in the annual the Cross-Cultural Retreat, the Cal Poly Pomona heritage months, the Cultural Centers cultural graduation celebrations and a variety of on-going workshops and educational programs. CECCHE gives academic, personal, and program planning advice, as well as referrals to professional counseling and academic advising. CECCHE outreaches to the community by participating in local school events and programs and by sponsoring and participating in outreach conferences for local high school and middle school youth and parents.
