About the event
Rugged Sky Media, in partnership with St. Mary’s County Maryland and the International Drone Racing Association (IDRA), will be hosting the Inaugural Race X Maryland: International FPV Drone Race and Show June 16th & 17th 2018 at the St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
First Person View (FPV) drone racing is an exciting competitive sport for thrill seekers and technology enthusiasts alike. This year's Race X will feature drone racers from around the country competing in solo FPV drone racing competitions as they defy obstacles and overcome technical challenges in the build/crash/repeat method they are known for around the world.
This year, Rugged SkyMedia has teamed with Emmy Award Winning Film Producer Skip Fredricks, host of DroneTV/Racing, to introduce Race X Maryland: International FPV Drone Race and Show to a global market. DroneTV/Racing is seen by three quarter of a million viewers.

FPV drone racing is a growing industry that has quickly gained global attention. Major media groups, such as ESPN, have broadcasted drone racing, and networks shows such as DroneTv have emerged, attracting a variety of spectators from varying demographics.
The two-day event will showcase varrying assets and opportunities located in St. Mary’s County, Maryland related to Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). The event will include:

- Obstacle course designed by local STEM programs for spectators to test their mettle

Our continued goal is to bring the exciting world of drone racing to spectators of all ages and encourage growth in the sport, while encouraging growth in the sport.
