The Mission

To unite and honor women truck drivers – “Breaking the Silence“

Purpose

REAL Women in Trucking, Inc. is currently a 501 (c) (6) membership organization created to improve trucking industry standards. The “Queen of the Road on the High Seas” is our first fundraising event. Funds in excess of the overhead expenses to hold this event are to establish a 501 (c) (3) foundation, with a headquarters that provides modest truck parking availability for members with facilities, scheduled learning conferences and advanced training for entry-level driver training students who need help polishing their skills. Our vision is to facilitate the ability for seasoned women drivers who have the desire to “pay it forward” , to take a “Train the Trainer” certification course and have them teach finishing skills to qualified candidates who have an aptitude for truck driving. Your support can help this vision come to fruition.

Objective

To deliver an enjoyable atmosphere of encouragement, education and empowerment that cultivates ongoing participation to improve ourselves and our industry.

Background:

“Breaking the Silence” , Women have long served the trucking industry as professional truck drivers.  They have much wisdom to share about the personal courage and pride they experience as a result of their job. By providing access to educational health, wellness, and self-advocacy tools, the isolation of the trucking lifestyle is minimized and women become empowered. The positive impact of camaraderie, and opportunities for involvement to share knowledge and voice concerns benefits all drivers. When women succeed, we all succeed.

Why should you sponsor?

We get a good deal of high profile media coverage. Sponsors who support our event would receive the benefit of exposure throughout our networks that are well over 35,000 in social media alone.

Truck Drivers are the backbone of America. Without them our economy can stop within days. They are underappreciated, unrecognized as service people to our nation. Women who work as truck drivers have been around since big freight trucks were first developed in the early 1900's. 

Truck drivers not only haul every tangible product you can think of, we often use them as well, esspecially if they make our lives easier on the road.

This event is giving a voice to the women who have worked as truck drivers and have been invisible to the public. It is a celebration of the pride they take in their profession, a chance to learn from one another and gain knowedge about overcoming impediments in the industry.

Desiree Wood

In 2007, I entered truck driver training believing there was a truck driver shortage. I believed that if I worked very hard, I could become a qualified professional driver and make a new life for myself.

What I found instead was a broken system that jeopardized the safety of the public, the student truckers and the people willing to train them.

In 2013, I formed the REAL Women in Trucking (RWIT) organization with other seasoned female truck drivers to help other women struggling in the system I had emerged from.  

RWIT serves all drivers who wish to improve our industry and practice personal responsibility. We are a driver organization for drivers, by drivers. Our vision is to help one another overcome impediments to success.

This crusie is our first fundraising, networking and learning event. As I mentioned above, we are working truck drivers that transport America's goods to market. Whether you are a manufacturer of a product or consumer, you rely on truck drivers each and every day. Please consider reciprocating support through sponsorship of our event.
