About the event

We, the students of Faculty of Technology and Engineering(FTE), The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Vadodara(MSU), Gujarat, INDIA, are organising PRERNA - Asia's Largest Differently Abled Fest during 3rd and 4th August of 2019.

PRERNA, The Nationally recognized Social Event and Asia's Largest Differently Abled's Fest organized by the only Engineering students of Faculty of Technology and Engineering, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, was initiated with the sole purpose of providing the differently-abled like visually impaired, physically handicapped, mentally challenged and deaf and mute with an opportunity to showcase their abilities.

PRERNA has been aiding the society since 13 years and is the only event of its kind organized by the engineering students. The major motive of PRERNA is to draw inspiration from these special friends of ours and also give them respect and warmth which boosts their self-esteem.

The foundation of PRERNA was laid with a single thought: A determination to integrate the differently able into mainstream society.

Every year PRERNA organizes more than 40 events for the differently abled. PRERNA’18 witnessed 7100 participation and 10,200 visitors from all over INDIA. PRERNA is associated with differently able institutes of Gujarat and even of neighboring states.

Prerna’18 presented mind blowing Wheelchair Fencing, Wheelchair Rugby and Wheelchair Archery in which nationally recognized players showed majestic zing and immense determination thereby lifting the barrier of disability. 

PRERNA’17 showcased amazing Para Powerlifting, Para Sitting Volleyball and Blind Judo in which nationally recognized players showed fantastic skills. 

=>   Major Highlights:-

• PRERNA has been receiving PATRONAGE from UNESCO since last 4 consecutive years. 

• PRERNA is Asia’s Largest Differently Abled Festival.

• PRERNA is given recognition by the Government of INDIA and The Paralympics Committee of INDIA.

• In 2013, PRERNA achieved a Limca book of record wherein 604 deaf and mute students sung National Anthem in their special sign language. As a pre-event Exhibition Match of WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL were also organized, wherein the players were retired army men, who were rendered physically challenged because of injury during battle.

• PRERNA’18 have inspired hundreds of minds by arranging guest lectures under banner of "Alfaaz". The guest lectures of Priya Bhargava- Miss India Wheelchair 2015, TEDx speaker and Ambassador Miss Wheelchair World in India and Virali Modi- Miss Wheelchair Runner-up 2014, also a TEDx speaker and Jeet Trivedi who showed the audience how despite being blind one can do unthinkable things.

• In PRERNA'15, we attempted the Guinness world record for the longest selfie relay chain with more than 600 differently able and municipal school students.

• Under the technical segmentt of PRERNA has organized a Blindfold Photography workshop, Technological exhibitions of assistive technologies for the differently abled, various workshops etc.

• The social segments of PRERNA include a donation drive in winter known as "Aaghaz", Free health Checkup, Free Eye Check up, Blood donation camp, SHIKSHA under which we have adopted 11 needy students and support them financially. As our pre-event, we organized a “No Addiction” campaign in elite schools of Baroda such as Nalanda, DPS, and St. Kabir etc. with the noble initiative of propagating the ineluctable cause of addiction among the upcoming generation.

• PRERNA is growing with each passing year including the internationally recognized Olympic games for the differently able i.e. “PARALYMPICS". Everything for the differently able is provided FREE OF COST like transportation, accommodation, food etc. and the entire event is organized by the students only.
