About the event
My husband Guy and I for the past 3 years have been permanent volunteers at the Tough Mudder events throughout the UK, between us clocking up 800 hours dedicated to the motivation and encouragement of all participants regardless of ability. We do this to give something back, by helping and encouraging people to face their deepest fears and conquer them!
We need help with the cost of the travel and accommodation to be able to support one of the most inspirational soldiers we have ever met!
This year we have been asked to accompany CSJT Mark Holloway at the Worlds Toughest Mudder Event as his Pit Crew, in order to keep him fed, dry, motivated and strong through the cruelling course.
Mark was severely injured during the line of duty when an IED explosion caused the serious and permanent injury to his arm in December 2011. H4H not only supported Mark at Camp Bastion in the immediate aftermath of the explosion but, later, back in the UK at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and at the Defence Medical Rehabilitaion Centre, Headley Court. Mark also enrolled in the Military to Mentors scheme which is funded by H4H.
To date, he has completed 16 UK Tough Mudders and in November 2014, he returned to World’s Toughest Mudder, in Las Vegas, to take part in his second World’s Toughest Mudder. The event attracted 750 entrants with the aim to do multiple laps of the course over 24 hours. Competitors endured blazing sun and sand storms and not only did Mark continue for the full allotted time, but he ran an amazing 65 miles and finished in the top 30.
Mark is incredibly proud to represent and promote the British Army, Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and Help for Heroes which is something he is passionate about. To date, the World’s Toughest Mudder finalist has raised nearly £10,000.
With my husband and I this time being at Mark's side we are hoping for the win, to push the profile of Help for Heroes and be able to raise even more funds for this amazing charity.
