About the event

Parnassus is the annual literary fest of Kishinchand Chellaram College, Mumbai, India. The fest aims to take learning outside of the walls of the classrooms and expose students to new, widening Horizons.

DAY I – 10^TH January, 2017

11:00 am - Inauguration Ceremony

11:15 am – ‘Travel with words’ in conversation with

                  Dilip D’Souza & Shivya Nath

12:45 pm – Poetry slam on the theme of ‘Wanderlust’

DAY II – 11^TH January, 2017

11:00 am – ‘Avenues in Creative writing’, interaction with

                 Huda Merchant and Kaartikeya Bajpai

12:30 pm – Play Reading competition; Shakespeare

DAY III – 12^TH January, 2017

11:00 am – Session with Prof Craig Brandist from Sheffield, England;

                ‘Cinema and Literature’

12:45 pm – Vote of Thanks. Winner for short story writing competition.

Literary Arts at Parnassus ’17 aims at tapping the talent in the students and providing a platform for them to express their creativity. To realize our dream, we seek your help in the form of sponsorship. With each passing year we try to scale greater parameters in terms of publicity, participation, celebrated guests, innovative organizers, diligent volunteers, diverse events and of course sponsorships. Close to 15% of India’s one billion plus population is in the 15 – 24 years age group. The typical ‘Indian Young Person’ (IYP) is impressionable and when affluent, an early adapter of any new product, service or technology. The association of your resources with a festival like ours would definitely be beneficial as K.C. College would host a crowd of thousands of enthusiastic IYPs under one roof. Your company would thus benefit in terms of publicity in one of the most spectacular events of this year, which would cater to the dynamic youth of today.

In a bid to bind creativity with curriculum, the Department of English (Degree College) has been organizing the literary fest, Parnassus.. where  the muses dwell, under the aegis of L.A.A.F.-the Literary Arts and Academic Forum of K.C. College since the academic year 2006-07. The effort is substantially encouraged by the Head of the institution and is greatly assisted by the up-to-date infrastructure. The events at Parnassus have won press publicity as well as enduring tie ups with sponsors which include the Talesara Charitable Trust, and the Bank of India. The programme has been funded in the past by the UGC for its innovative potential. 

The event is organised by interested students in collaboration with professors.
