Painting For A Cause,

Las Vegas, Nevada, United States Las Vegas, Nevada, United States

  • About the event

My Scars Are Beautiful is having it's very first fundraiser! We will be painting a rendition of Van Gogh's Starry Night with a Vegas twist!  Proceeds will go towards supplying medical supplies to whose insurances do not cover these needs.

    Why should you sponsor?

My Scars Are Beautiful is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring, sustaining, and encouraging women, men, and children who have been physically an emotionally scarred yet overcome traumatic injuries. We accomplish this through tailored projects, programs, and services rendered with complete competence and compassion.

We are having our first fundraiser where proceeds will help aide supplies for individuals that do not have insurance to cover these needs. We are looking to have about 20-30 attendees between the ages of 25-65. With sponsorship we know we could increase the corporations market share while having our needs met as well. With our goals for the community we can complement each other through meeting the sponsors goals as well; with vast advertisement, philosophies, and other benefits.

My Scars Are Beautiful is currently marketing our projects through state and national grants, hospitals, local health fairs, MSAB website, Google, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

    Michelle Hardy-Rodriguez

On June 5, 2013 Michelle was in a horrific DUI accident on the Las Vegas Interstate 15 highway that caused her to suffer third degree burns to her upper extremities and entire right arm. She spent 2 long weeks at the UMC Burn Unit where she underwent multiple surgeries. Upon her release from the hospital she had in home nursing for six months. During this recovery time her emotional and psychological well being were dramatically affected in that she couldn't find the support she desired. After a full recovery, she realized how important it is to have support and encouragement for the physical changes and the mental stability of one's self after a traumatic episode. This lead her to start the website My Scars Are Beautiful where people submitted stories of their own traumatic experiences. It has now grown into a non-profit organization where she focuses her efforts on helping others in her native town and community of Las Vegas.  She states, "Anyone going through or overcoming their own journey to recovery now has an outlet of support." Michelle wants people to know that their not alone. She wants to reach out and help others with their recovery. My Scars Are Beautiful is here to uplift, inspire, and invigorate their self-esteem and psychological well being.

Michelle loves God, is a first degree black belt in Taekwondo, enjoys gardening, reading, Tai-Chi and being with her two dogs Roxy and Smokey. She has an Associates of Arts degree from CSN and is in pursuit of a B.A. in Psychology at Nevada State.
