Oxjam began in 2006, with the aim of getting music-loving people across the UK to raise money to fight poverty and suffering around the world. 9 years later it is larger than ever and in October it is coming to Halifax!

The great thing about Oxjam is the diversity of the events on offer - from multi-venue Takeover events, to sponsored busks. Over the years there have been many high profile celebrity supporters, such as Jarvis Cocker, Fatboy Slim, Damon Albarn, Hot Chip and 2manydjs to name a few.  But at its heart Oxjam is still a grassroots festival, with thousands of volunteers celebrating music in their local communities

On the 15^th October we are planning to “takeover” Halifax. This will mean having lots of local bands playing across 4 venues. This will be an all-day event. People who purchase a wristband will be able to visit any of the participating venues throughout the day just like any other festival.  This will raise the profile of the bands and venues not only in the local community but across the country as there will be extensive social media and advertising promoting the events. It will also raise lots of cash for a fantastic cause!

Other events will happen across the town in the run up to the takeover, to keep the festival in the spotlight all year. These will include raffles, busking, cake sales and anything else we can get away with that makes lots of money and positive exposure!
