  • About the event

We are a group of students continuing the legacy of previous committees of Oxford University Hindu Society by hosting the annual Diwali Ball in November 2017. We expect 400+ attendees at the event from across Oxford and Oxford Brookes Universities, as well as from Cambridge University and from a number of different ethnic groups and backgrounds.

We are committed to celebrating Diwali as a multicultural festival which appeals to people of all cultures as they commemorate the festival of light, often considered as a new start and the triumph of good over evil in the Hindu community.

The ball will feature Indian food, drinks, dance performances and music throughout the night! There will also be henna and dhol players, and we are looking forward to enjoying this festival as a community.

    Why should you sponsor?

Sponsoring the Diwali Ball is an amazing opportunity to connect with a diverse group of 18-24 year olds from across the country - we're expecting attendees from all racial backgrounds and origins, from universities in Oxford, London and Cambridge amongst others.

The sponsoring company will have the chance to promote their work and reach out to people who are beginning to consider entering the job market, especially graduate students and final year undergraduates.

By showing their support for the ball, the company will be able to form a lasting partnership with Oxford University and exhibit their community ethos and commitment to diversity.

We are the Oxford University Hindu Society, a group of students of Indian and Sri Lankan heritage studying various subjects. Throughout the year, we hold open events such as our weekly aartis, Bollywood film nights, open mic nights and larger events such as the Diwali Ball and our annual Holi celebration in May.

Our commitment to diversity and inclusivity is shown by the fact that we welcome everyone to attend our events, and believe that anyone can celebrate Hindu culture regardless of their background.
