    On|Off – the global independent fashion showcase for the next generation of emerging designers - was founded by Lee Lapthorne in 2003.

    Lee, also the director and founder of event production and creative agency doll, established On|Off to help and mentor new fashion designers with limited financial backing, but who had extraordinary raw talent.

    This was achieved by obtaining brand sponsorship to produce and stage fashion shows during both seasons of London Fashion Week either ‘on' or ‘off’ schedule, which is where the name On|Off derives from.

    From 2003-2012 On|Off took place twice a year during February and September fashion weeks in London and in Paris.

    Over its 10 years and 18 seasons, On|Off showcased some of the most exciting international fashion designers and has been instrumental in mentoring and launching several major British and international fashion designers after their graduation including Gareth Pugh and JW Anderson.

    Over the years, the On|Off brand has expanded and evolved to include not only fashion, but also design, technology, art and music elements and has become more of a cultural movement rather than just a fashion event.

    On|Off has always showcased innovative technology at London Fashion Week and has achieved many ‘technological firsts’, from creating the first art installation made from iPods to having a virtual fashion week in the virtual world, Second Life.
     
    Over the years, the On|Off brand has expanded and evolved to include not only fashion, but also design, technology, art and music elements and has become more of a cultural movement rather than just a fashion event.

    On|Off is the first fashion company of its kind to be awarded CoolBrands status in 2012.

    On|Off founder Lee Lapthorne’s concept was based on his desire to create time for the fashion industry to pause and take stock. With On|Off, the nature of the fashion calendar provides ample space for clarity and provides an offering where new ideas, innovations and possibilities can be explored, and showcased.

    On|Off is not about profiteering, it is about providing a showcase for exceptional talent who may not necessarily have the financial muscle to be part of fashion week.

    Put simply, On|Off needs to pay for itself and for the creative team needed to make it happen, which wasn’t always the case in previous years, so we needed time to take stock.

    To relaunch the brand in February, On|Off will open it's doors to the fashion, art and music elite with a party to launch London Fashion Week. Housed at an central London location, invited guests will be treated to music by world renowned DJs, and ground breaking lasers and projection technology. This will be the coolest party at London Fashion Week and will generate coverage across all media.
