Nine Worlds Geekfest was founded on the radical belief that geekdom should not be restricted by class, age, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, disability or the ability to cite wookiepedia in arguments.
2016 marks the fourth annual Geekfest in London, in a new, more central and accessible venue.
We expect to run around 300 individual programme items over 3 days. These will include workshops, talks, panels, roundtable discussions, social events and performances for a diverse audience.
Content areas include:
Just one of the many highlights of our 2016 event will be Bifröst, the annual LGBTQAI cabaret and disco.
Reach a diverse audience of more than 2,000 people of a geeky disposition (this basically means they're interested in anything and everything). Our attendees will include other event organisers, and experienced and new convention attendees of all ages.
Now in its fourth year, Nine Worlds is a geek convention that grew from a successful Kickstarter in 2013.
Each year has seen 20% attendee growth, and this year we moved to a new, larger site in Central London, with an exhibition hall that enables us to host an expo alongside the convention. We expect to welcome 2,000 convention attendees and 2,000 expo attendees from 12-14 August.
What makes Nine Worlds different?
Where else could you go to a cheese tasting; an intro to coding workshop;a Star Trek panel with all of the UK writers; an LGBTQAI+ cabaret; Knightmare Live; academic micro-talks; a blanket fort workshop; cosplay workshops; advice on securing a literary agent (from a leading literary agent); an all-night film show; and an illustrated talk on Afrofuturism?*
