NIGHTLINE is officially opening its doors (and its phone lines) this fall, and we want to bring together a unique group of people to celebrate and network with us.
Fresh out of the McGill University Dobson Centre's X-1 Accelerator Program, attendees will meet NIGHTLINE's dynamic team and learn about our achievements and future goals, as we prepare for demo days in Montreal, Toronto, Boston, and New York City.
This is an opportunity to meet and mingle with some of our mentors, other entrepreneurs, and startups, policy-makers, mental health advocates, and students.
WHO WE ARE:
HOW WE HELP:
We offer institutions service packages which include:
TRAINING: online + face-to-face workshops
IMPLEMENTATION: recruitment, marketing, and phone lines
MAINTENANCE: Check-in workshops accessible to professionals
RESEARCH: live traffic report, evidence-based research program.
WIKI: personalized campus resources
OUR GOALS:
1. Be the most trusted active listening service in the university community
2. Improve mental health services
3. Reduce student dropout rates
4. Improve University's integrity
5. Improve student's experience
WHY SHOULD YOU HELP:
One out of two university students suffers from an increase in depression, anxiety, and suicide ideation once they start university.
Waiting time for students who seek mental health counseling varies from two weeks to three months unless the student is in a crisis situation.
There is currently no pre-crisis service or resources offered by universities for students in distress.
Young people between the ages of 18 and 24 are more likely to experience mental health illnesses or substance use disorders than any other age group
We create and implement support services offered at night, by students for students, on university campuses.
After volunteering for the McGill Students' Nightline for 3 years, a student felt the need to directly contribute to the role of first-responders in on-campus support services. As McGill is the only university in Canada to offer such specialized service, the need to expand the Nightline network led Myriam to create NIGHTLINE in October 2017. Aiming to develop and implement Nightline in every post-secondary institution across Canada, Myriam's vision includes bringing the community closer together and making support more accessible.
NIGHTLINE believes that every single student should have access to its service so that fewer students have their education, or life, comprised of emotional difficulties.
NIGHTLINE creates and implements support lines operating at night on university campuses across Canada.
Run by students for students, the organization hopes for a more accessible and direct source of support for individuals in need.
With research developed alongside the NIGHTLINE services, we improve and adapt our service according to the demands of students across Canada.
