Naturals in Troy,

Troy, Alabama, United States Troy, Alabama, United States

  • About the event

This is the fourth and final annual natural hair event I will be hosting in Troy, AL.  The mission is to provide education and affordable products to attendees by introducing a certified natural hair stylist as an educator providing tips to maintain healthy hair at home. The goal is to provide a safe, fun, social and sophisticated environment for women of all walks of life to come together and embrace their culture, natural texture, and empower each other.  Due to the lack of participation from product sponsors this year, I am forced to purchase products out of pocket.  This is in keeping with the style that was presented in the past events. I am making this the last annual event so that I can branch it off into several smaller, more social events, in the future.

    Why should you sponsor?

A sponsor would provide monetary asssitance to make this event occur and be proud to do so as this is a very small town and there are very little positive events happening in the area. The city, also my birthplace, has great potential, but as with any city, the potential decreases when negativity starts to come into existence. My vision is to bring more positive and safe things to do for the residents. Each sponsor would help make my vision come true while being acknowledged for their generous donation. An outlet to inform people who would not normally know about businesses outside of their city is what could also come from sponsorship. I want the reisdents of Troy, Alabama to see the bigger picture, to see that there are so many things that exist in life outside of the city, to explore such things. Through this event the opportunity exists for both sponsors and attendees.

    Alisha Brown

My name is Alisha Brown. I have served my country honorably for 10 years in the United States Navy. When I separated from the Navy in 2010, I immediately gained employment as a federal employee, where I am currently an employee, however, impacted by the current government shutdown of 2019. I bring to the table honor, courage and committment, all of which are core values instilled in me from my military service, and all of which I still live by to this day. I have built a passion for helping others and providing outlets for people to enjoy themselves in a safe place. My focus has been on my hometown, Troy, AL, because people leave and forget all about where they come from. For the past 3 years I have funded this event 100%, with the exception of product sponsors. I am forever grateful for the many brands (Mielle Organics, Jessi Curl, Miss Jessie's) that approved my requests for sponsorship, but like all things, they must come to an end. I am a strategic and critical thinker, but I am also goal-oriented and trustworthy. I maintain my word because that is all I have - my word. I welcome and appreciate any individual or company who supports my vision and wants to see it to fruition.
