About the event
The goal of LRO asbl is to improve the rescue of accident victims.
To this end, the LRO organizes seminars, workshops and competitions. The participants shall be given the opportunity to share, to learn from each other, to acquire new rescue techniques and apply them under realistic conditions.
The members of the LRO are active and inactive members of the Luxembourg rescue services and works closely together with the National Rescue Service Agency (Administration des services de secours).
During the "rescue challenges», rescue teams have to save the victims in a given period from the crashed vehicles. A patient-centered approach, teamwork, and ensuring the security of all persons involved are in the foreground. The "rescue challenge" is not a normal "competition", but an event where rescue workers gather around to improve their rescue skills and to learn from each other. The cooperative exchange of techniques and skills between the participating teams is paramount.
While a "rescue challenge" always concerns the recovery of victim from a vehicle involved in an accident, at a "trauma challenge" the patient may be found in every imaginable situation (falling from a great height, burns, drowning, electrocution, amputation injury ...).
The rescue team, which consists of two paramedics, shall assess the injuries of one or two victims, treat and rescue them within a given time.
For the National Trauma & Rescue Challenge 2014, respectively 16 teams from Luxembourg and abroad are expected. The best Luxembourg team in each category will be qualified to participate at the 2014 World Rescue Challenge to be held in October in England.
The services included in the sponsorship packages for the national challenge will be valid for a period of one year for all other events organized by the LRO.
