Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc at UCSD will host NAKland, an event that celebrates "Children's Day". The event will be open to the public and have a variety of activities such as: inflatable jumpers, carnival themed games, cultural performances, food, campus tours and prizes at no charge to the attendees. The main focus of this event is to create a fun environment and promote higher education for all attendees, especially children and families of low socioeconomic status and minority backgrounds.
Nu Alpha Kappa is a Latino Based Fraternity with various chapters throughout California, Nevada, and Colorado. The Lambda Chapter at UCSD has been around since 1997 and has created an enourmaous impact to the San Diego community alongside the other San Diego chapters. In 2015, the City of San Diego, Ca granted March 3rd to be known as NAK DAY, rewarding us for our contributions to the region.
Through sponsor support, we will be able to partner up with a local school/ymca/church and be able to pay for transportation costs to our university, food, prizes, and a goodie bag for all children that includes school supplies.
I am the current president of Nu Alpha Kappa's Lambda Chapter at UCSD. During my first term, I was able to lead my chapter in earning the Most Improved Chapter of the Year award for our programming and academic efforts. I am currently in my second term and one of my goals for this school year was to bring back this event that has not been done in more than 10 years by our chapter.
