MyraJ Fashions Extravaganza,

Detroit, Michigan, United States Detroit, Michigan, United States

  • About the event

    Hello All!

My name is J'Nai Taylor and I am the Founder/CEO of MyraJ Fashions, an up and coming designer from Detroit, MI. I'm just trying to follow my heart, my dreams, and create a better life for my daughter. My event hits close to home and begins a life long dream for myself.

Though I am only 22, I have been through many things in my life that should have brought me to my knees, but I am still standing:

I've been molested, homeless,  attempted suicide more than once lost a twin, and constantly sickly and this was all before I left for college in 2011. In 2013 I was diagnosed with Epilepsy which made life very difficult as well as loosing my first child. In 2014 my daughter, Amyra Simone Ready, was born with Sickle Cell Anemia SC and I have dealt with it alone because I am a single mother. Although life has been a struggle with my daughters illness, my illnesses, and previous background, my only outlets were fashion, theatre, and poetry. These outlets have literally saved my life, which brings me to the purpose of my event, which will be the first of many.

The purpose of my event it to help the start up of my business. I want to start my own fashion line and custom clothing business here in the heart of Detroit. I want to help breathe life back into my city. Also, this event, that I plan on hosting every year, is to benefit charities around Michigan and hopefully expand to charities around the world.

The first event will benefit the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America- Michigan Chapter. 40% of the proceeds will be donated to the above named charity for research and the betterment of the families in Michigan who are affected by this disease (below I've added a little literature on the disease and how it truly affects people).

The  other 60% will primarily go to paying those who participated in the event which includes models, hair and make-up artists, light and sound coordinators, and venue costs. Whatever proceeds are left will go to helping my business get off the ground.

Every year after, a new charity will be picked and the same process will happen.

Seeing as how I can't work, this is my last chance to make my dreams come true and to give my daughter a better life than me. Please, help to be a blessing to someone who wants to make the world better.
