The founders, themselves fans and partakers in the drag scene, observed how mainstream drag often overshadowed its more avant-garde, edgier counterparts. They saw immense talent and creativity in the alt/horror drag community that wasn’t getting the platform it deserved.
Fuelled by a passion for inclusivity and diversity in the drag scene, the founders set out to create a space where the unconventional could become the celebrated norm. They envisioned a brunch where the art of drag could embrace its darker, more fantastical elements – a place where horror, goth, and alternative drag artists could not only perform but thrive and be appreciated for their unique artistry.
Thus, Monster Drag Brunch was born – a haven for those who found beauty in the macabre and the outlandish. It became a stage where the alternative drag scene could showcase its creativity, where artists could push the boundaries of conventional drag and explore the depths of their imagination.
