Mission Trip,

Haiti Haiti

  • About the event

I fell in love with Haiti in 2016. I found an organization called Mission of Hope Haiti. I decided to embark on my first mission trip. It had been quite a journey, but I am so thankful for it. It was a one week mission trip to one of the partnering villages in Haiti. Throughout the week I participating in church advancement projects which include painting the schools, restoring houses, building homes, restoring churches, and much more. I also had the opportunity to go through the villages and spend some time with the villagers to spread hope and love. What I loved the most was spending time at the orphanages. I grew up without a father, so I know to an extent what it must like to wonder, and feel pain. I feel like God has been building me up for this moment. So that I can teach these children, that they are not orphans, because He has promised that He will not leave us. He will not leave us fatherless, He will come to us. That is the promise the closest and dearest to my heart. So many of us go through life wondering, feeling lost, and hopeless but when we find ourselves, and when we find God, everything falls into place. I decided to lead a team of 6 to Haiti. In doing so we agreed to help restore a home with a partnering village from MOH. For that we need materials and funding.

I would like to point out that Mission of Hope has 4 schools with over 6,000 students coming daily, while providing 91,000 meals on a daily basis. In addition, kids have a 100% pass rate on government exams. Education is not taken for granted in Haiti. These kids will do anything to learn, to make something of themselves. This is why my team and I are seeking a sponsor to help us through this calling.

    Why should you sponsor?

You should sponser my event if you feel that God is calling you. These children need it and the villagers need it, but I also believe I need it. Sometimes we feel that we are going to be a big blessing to them and that somehow we will change their lives. What if they are a bigger blessing to us, and they change our lives and hearts. I truly know God is working something up for this trip to Haiti (July 22-29,2017). I know he is going to show his love and mercy. Every sponser will be featured on all my social media, instagram, facebook, snapchat. They will also be a photograph showing the sponsers name/company in Haiti. I will be showing videos through youtube, they can also be mentioned there if wished. I would really hope that you find it in your heart to not only help me make this trip come true, but help the Mission of Hope. I hope God blesses you all! Thank you so much for everything!

    Okarys Bonilla

My name is Okarys and I am a student at Texas A&M University. I will be a junior this year (A-A-A WHOOP). I am an Allied Health major looking to become a pediatric oncologist. I have had this dream since I was a little girl, and have been working hard to make it come true one day. Aside of having a love for medicine and helping others, I am a devoted christian. My walk of faith truly began when I attended Hope and Life conferance at Lakewood Church. I began wondering more, and looking for more of God in my life. I decided to get rebaptized, because I felt God was calling me out for something much greater than I could understand. I have been truly blessed to be able to continue my education at the most amazing university in the world. My passion is helping others, which is why I volunteer not only at St.Joseph's Hospital in College Station, but also Texas Children's Hospital. I really love working with children and found an opportunity to help kindergarden children with their reading skills. Which was an amazing experience, especially because I am a huge bookworm. Recentently, God has shown me how amazing he is. I was accepted into the Atlantis Project Medical Fellowship/Internship in Europe. I am so thankful and in awe of how great our God is. I regularly attend Breakaway Ministry service on Tuesday nights. One day I felt something that I have never felt before. I truly felt God in my heart. It was as if the whole world froze and he spoke to me. Well it was something I tried to ignore, but I have been called to help those in need. Well that calling lead me to find Haiti. I researched Haiti and found out that they are still stuggling from the earthquake that hit in 2010. Haiti became a symbol of hope for me. It is something I cannot truly explain, but I will do my best to do so.
