About the event

It is a fundraiser event to support our local performing arts school Dancers in Motion; to remain open and provide scholarships to underserved-potential students in the community. Please participate in "Keep A Girl On Pointe '' our scholarship campaign! Please see the attached information regarding how you can collaborate with the African-American community. What you see today; could be the future of our youth. By showing your support on these crises; we can come together and stop this pandemic. I ask that you please join our salon and together we can make a change! 

Why should you sponsor?

In order for ME’ SALON to continue to provide services and help the community, we need your support as a community effort.  Our children need your help. There is a decline in our youth participation and a fast rise of mental illness/homelessness. As a collective effort, together as community, we can all participate by  giving back to our local community to change lives. This year, Markeiel has chosen two local community organizations to donate majority of the proceeds. They are as follows; DIM (Dancers in Motions) and Free N’ One, both located in the Los Angeles area.
Markeiel is using his platform of beauty, fashion, music, and his voice, which is known to inspire, and the notoriety of his salon’s brand to execute a fabulous entertainment production that has been his vision for 16 years. Markeiel’s previous productions were “Metamorphosis 1” and “Reflections of ME”, in which he received support from community leaders who were present. They were, City Councilman Mark Ridley- Thomas and Bishop Charles E. Blake of the West Angeles Church. This will be his 2nd full production entitled, Metamorphosis 2: “Lovedom” derived from love and freedom. This is a formal red carpet event, filled with music, fashion, dinner, beauty, and inspiration all wrapped in LOVE. The event will also showcase performances of our youth as well as they will host for the event. The vision is for “Metamorphosis” to be an annual fundraiser.
Dancers in Motion is an African American Dance School, that is dedicated to changing the lives of our underserved youth in the performing arts of dance. Contributions will help with scholarships, competition fees, travel expenses and costumes for the dancers who are unable to pay.   
Secondly, Free “N” One, frees men and woman from drug and alcohol abuse as it relates to mental illness. Free “N” One is a faith-based organization founded in 1987.  Their mission is to provide our community who suffers from substance abuse with spiritual and clinical tools, which will equip them to lead a clean and sober life.   Free “N” One offers counseling, rehabilitative and educational services on prevention and  treatment for persons suffering from alcohol and drug abuse. They assist clients entering into substance-abuse programs that can’t afford it.  Contributions will assist with monthly zoom meetings, medical attention, transportation, and last but not least, helps families/clients with food and shelter.   In addition, Markeiel will recognize and honor other community leaders and businesses in the local Crenshaw community.

My name is Chriscelle Gonzalez and I am the assistant to Markeiel Jones who is organizing the event.  I believe in the cause and wanted to help out our local Crenshaw community.  I also believe in giving back to the community to keep the performing arts going and helping those that are less fortunate.
