MCASA Annual Conference,

The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, United States The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, United States

  • About the event

This year's conference is going virtual due to COVID concerns.

This conference is an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with other Chinese American students and professionals across the Midwest. It is meant to help aspiring professionals network with one another and also to grow their early careers. Throughout the conference, participants will be able to learn how to overcome unexpected/unfamiliar challenges and develop through thought-provoking and empowering experiences. For our past conferences, we were able to gather 17 universities across North America and 10 universities across the Midwest in-person. This year, we are planning the conference in partnership with The Ohio State University, as their connections will help to build an even larger community with more Chinese American organizations and other universities. Students will also have a chance to integrate themselves with representatives from other Chinese-American organizations and learn from their peers on how to operate professionally and promote social awareness at their respective universities.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Winds of Change,” - embodying the idea of adapting to new changes throughout uncertainty. The CoVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly caused stress and anxiety for everyone to some degree, and the past several years -and even today- have challenged what we once considered “normal.” As such, we felt this theme would be suitable for this year’s conference with the intentions of providing a support system for our Chinese American (and Asian American) community and to empower our attendees with soft skills and knowledge to best serve their local communities and bring about both fun and informative events.

You can find more information about MCASA and our annual conference on our website at https://www.mcasa.info/.

    Why should you sponsor?

Please reach out to us if you are interested in our mission (see above). We would love to hear your ideas on how to spur growth and discussion in our community. Aside from sponsors, we are also looking for workshop speakers or workshop leaders to present at the conference.

In the past, we have also had sponsors provide guests with lunch, snacks, or swag items! Such an arrangement is a great alternative to a strictly monetary offer, and you will still receive the marketing perks.

MCASA is a nonprofit organization currently applying for its 501(c)(3) status, and all of our executive committee members have joined voluntarily because of what our organization can provide to our Chinese American communities. We are a relatively young organization, but our network is ever growing with the conferences we host every year.

The Midwest Chinese American Student Association is an organization of predominantly Chinese American students and alumni across the Midwest aiming to empower the community by tackling social issues, raising awareness, and providing career development opportunities. Every year, we aim to host a conference event filled with professional workshops and activities to strengthen the Asian American community with our mission statement below in mind:

    1. Community: Connecting and unifying the Chinese American community across the Midwest.

    2. Education & Awareness: Creating a safe space to educate about and bring awareness to social issues within our community.

    3. Culture: Sharing our culture through meaningful activities and discussing Chinese American identity.

    4. Impact: Inspiring Midwestern Chinese American students to create new and innovative ways to lead their communities.

    5. Professionalism: Facilitating the growth and development of Chinese American students by offering networking opportunities and career workshops.
