My name is Kat Arias, and I am the Owner and Director of the Ferocity Dance Company, located in Falls Church, VA. I’m inviting your company to partner with us as a sponsor for our upcoming annual event, Masters of Bachata Takeover. 

As a professional Bachata choreographer, competitor and dancer, I’ve spent the past fifteen years of my career building a space for authentic artistic expression through dance. I founded the Ferocity Dance Company in 2012 after falling in love with the art of Bachata and seeing its potential to transform lives. Based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, Ferocity is home to several award-winning performance and competitive teams that have proudly represented our region—and the United States—at national and international events. At the heart of Ferocity’s mission is the belief that everyone deserves a place where they feel empowered, accepted, and inspired. We strive not only to teach strong techniques, but to nurture a community that helps individuals discover their confidence and identity through dance.

Bachata is a genre of music and dance that originated in the Dominican Republic, rich in emotion, rhythm, and storytelling. It has evolved from its traditional roots into a global movement, blending classic and modern styles that now resonate with diverse audiences worldwide. With its deep emotional connection, expressive partner work, and broad stylistic variations—including Traditional, Sensual, and Fusion—Bachata continues to grow in popularity across the globe. It serves as a powerful tool for cultural exchange, identity, and healing, offering people of all backgrounds a way to connect, express, and belong.

The Masters of Bachata Takeover began in 2014 as a small, single-day event featuring one artist and one DJ. It has since grown into a full weekend experience, now bringing together over ten internationally recognized artists and DJs from around the world. The event offers a rare opportunity for attendees to learn and experience multiple styles of Bachata—all under one roof. Through workshops, performances, and social dancing, participants gain exposure to the rich diversity within the Bachata genre, helping grow our local scene while fostering a deeper appreciation for this powerful cultural art form. By hosting these talented professionals in our region, we’re able to deliver world-class instruction and inspiration at a much more accessible price point than traveling abroad. The event, now held annually in Virginia Beach, VA, is a vibrant cultural celebration that draws dancers and attendees from across the East Coast. This year’s event promises to be our most dynamic yet, bringing together dancers of all levels to celebrate music, movement, and community.

In today’s world, where genuine connection is more important than ever, dance serves as a powerful vehicle for expression, unity, and confidence. It transcends language and speaks directly to the heart—something I’ve personally experienced through my own journey and have seen reflected in the growth of my students. Masters of Bachata Takeover bring together a richly diverse group of artists, offering them a platform to share their talents with a broader and equally diverse audience and celebrate the unifying power of dance.

Our goal is to make this event accessible and impactful. Sponsorship funds will directly support the dancers and performers by providing them with the resources needed to deliver high-quality experience. Your support would help us ensure every artist has what they need to succeed and shine.

Kat Arias

Kat Arias is a professional Bachata Choreographer, Dancer and Instructor of Peruvian and Venezuelan descent currently based out of the Washington DC Metropolitan area. She found the world of Ballroom dancing at the age of 22 and became one of the owners of the Élan DanceSport Center at 25. At this studio, she used to help a local performance group focused in Bachata which is where her love for the performing art of Bachata grew; having fallen in love with the genre, and following this studio's closure, Kat created the Ferocity Dance Company in May of 2012 where she has been the Owner and Managing Director ever since. 

The Ferocity Dance Company houses multiple Bachata focused competitive and performing teams, and has won various accolades throughout the years including multiple world championship titles. Her vision was to have a company that was not only focused on technique and learning, but that could also provide a space for anyone that needed somewhere that allowed them the freedom to find and be their authentic and true selves as they navigate through the art of dance. 

A Fusion Bachata artist herself, she travels and receives training in order to maintain well versed in other Bachata styles. In addition to running her teams and studio, she teaches various styles of Bachata at different Congresses, Festivals and special events on the National, and International level. 

​Kat is dedicated to creating opportunities for high quality learning - it remains the driving force behind her workshops and events and she hopes to inspire and connect with people everywhere she goes.
