Lockdown 2018,

University of Birmingham, Birmingham, England, United Kingdom University of Birmingham, Birmingham, England, United Kingdom

  • About the event

Lockdown 2018 is the annual professionally organised Varsity event of the University of Birmingham Lions basketball club. Coming off the back of a hugely successful sell-out event this year, we are looking for sponsorship for next years event as we move into Birmingham University’s brand new £55 million sports centre. Each year ‘Lockdown’ has got bigger and better and we are expecting next year’s event to be the most exciting yet in our new 1000 seat arena!

    The Lockdown event:

This past year’s event saw the Men’s and Women’s 1st teams take on (and beat) Nottingham and Manchester University, respectively, infront of a sold out crowd of over 400 people at the Munrow sports centre. Featuring entertainment from the Birmingham University Cheerleading Society, HipHop society and Dance Squad, the event was a huge success and was covered by the University’s student newspaper (‘Redbrick’) and featured live reporting by the University radio station (‘BurnFM’).

As a club, we are looking to build on a season in which both the Men’s and Women’s 1st teams won their respective leagues, meaning that we will both be playing in the top University league in the Midlands next season. Moving into the state-of-the-art sports centre next year is a huge step for the club and will make Lockdown 2018 one of the most exhilarating University sports events in the UK. We hope that you are as excited as we are about Lockdown 2018 and equally hope that you see the tremendous opportunity for reaching thousands of students and staff across the Birmingham University campus.

    Why should you sponsor?

What is on offer for sponsors?

We believe that sponsoring this event will give your company excellent exposure targeted specifically to thousands of University students. In return for sponsorship, the following is on offer:

    - Company logo on all artwork including 5000 flyers to be handed out to students on campus

    - Company logo on multiple posters to be placed across the campus, including in lecture theatres, the new sports centre, the Vale student village and the Guild

-Social media exposure for your company via mentions on the clubs twitter account (500 followers) and on the Facebook event (which reached 14,000 people last year)

-A page in the official matchday programme

-A banner (to be supplied) at the event

    - Announcements from the MC during the event

-An opportunity for your company to be present at the event

We will be offering a deal for one company to be the headline sponsor for Lockdown 2018, which will include all of the above sponsorship opportunities. We will also be offering individual opportunities for several companies to have their logo on the flyers and match day programmes.

    Andy Salmon

The past year I have been captain of the Men's 1sts basketball team whilst completing the final year of my medicine degree. As a club we have decided to look for sponsorship well in advance of the event as we understand that many companies organise their marketing budget over the summer months. We truly believe that this is a fantastic opportunity for your company to gain widespread exposure to students and staff across the entire University of Birmingham campus.
