  • About the event

On December 19, event participants will be raising money for a local family with medical/financial needs.
    2 WAYS TO RAISE!
    1) Powerlifting Event: Participants will get their own sponsors, who will donate a dollar amount per pounds lifted. For EXAMPLE, if someone sponsors you for $.04/lb and you total 1000 lbs, you raised $40.
    2) Gym Challeneges for reps: Participants will get sponsors, who donate a dollar amount per rep performed in particular challenges (push ups, pull ups, 225lb bench press, etc).
You will receive the sponsorships forms after signing up via email. These are for you to print and fill out on your own. Make sure to write what event /or challenges you are participating in. Both forms will have options for max donations as well. After the event is complete you will have 10 days to collect and turn in what you raised to Titans Gym.
Prizes will be given out to max lifters and those who raise the most money!!!
Your $25 ticket will include access to particpate in the event as well as a t-shirt the day of the event.

    FAQs
How does the powerlifting event work?
You will be given 3 attempts for each lift. You can chose Full Power ( Squat, Bench, Deadlift), Iron Man (Bench, Deadlift), or Bench Only.  You will be assigned to a group of 10-15 other lifters. This is called a flight. Everyone in your flight will make their 1st attempts. Once everyone in your flight has completed their 1st attempt, the flight will cycle back through for the 2nd attempt and then again for the 3rd. The day will start with squats then bench then end with deadlift.
    How do the attempts work?
You will be given 3 attempts for each lift. You will want to choose a lighter weight for your 1st attempt. Pick a weight that you could get 3 to 4 reps. There should be no missed 1st attempts. If you are basing your attempts on a percentage it should be 90-92% of your 1RM. Your 2nd attempt should be a stepping stone. Base your 2nd attempt on how your 1st attempt felt. If it felt very easy then you can make a larger increase in weight. On the other hand, if it felt much harder than expected, make a smaller jump. This could be 94-98%. If you made both previous attempts, the 3rd attempt will be where you might go for a PR.
Example: Your heaviest squat is 300lb for 1 rep. You have also squatted 275x3 a week before the meet. Your attempts for the days might look like this:
    1st Attempt: 275lb
    2nd Attempt: 295lb
    3rd Attempt: 310lb
What happens if I fail/miss an attempt?
If you miss an attempt, you can choose to either stay at the same weight or increase. If you miss an attempt you will NOT be able to decrease the weight. That is why is in so important to pick your 1st attempt wisely.

What can I wear to the event? Will I need a Singlet?
Lift 4 Life will not be associated with any federation. You will not be required to wear a singlet. Any gym clothing (T-Shirt, Hoodie, Shorts, etc.) will be acceptable.

What equipment will I be able to use?
Belts, Wrist Wraps, Knee Wraps, Knee Sleeves are all allowed. No Bench Shirts or Squat Suits.

    Will there be weigh-ins?
No. For men, there will be two weight classes, under 200lb and 200+, to keep it competitive. There will not be any weigh-ins. This will be based on the honor system.
What time do I need to show up?
The meet will start at 9AM. There will be a lifters meeting at 8:45AM that everyone must attend. People should show up by 8AM to ensure they have time to register and get warmed up.
When will the flights be announced?
We will announce flights 1-2 weeks before the meet.
     Will food be provided?
We will be selling water, Gatorade, Pre-Workout drinks, Protein drinks, & Protein Bars at the front desk. We are looking into having food vendors as well. This is TBD.
Do I need to be super strong to participate?
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate. The lifting environment is great. Everyone is encouraging regardless of the weight on the bar.
