"Let The Elephants Dance" is a full length show completely dedicated to giving the artists involved, the audience members, and more a place to feel safe and share their stories. This show is a charity event that gives back to the Canadian Mental Health Association. About 20% of canadians will suffer from a mental illness, and many more are still greatly affected on a day to day basis. Art in all forms is an amazing way to fight emotional batttles, find strength, show love, and this is exactly what this show does. My family has a history with mental illness, and I personally have always wanted to do something more... One year ago, I lost my cousin to her battle with depression and then I knew I MUST to do. This show is very personal and for my family, but this show is also for every single person out there who is fighting a battle with their own mental health. No single battle is the same, there is no cookie cutter way to go through these illnesses, but having support and a place to work together is a big step in the right direction! Sharing and being honest is the biggest help I can provide - you never know who needs to hear it!
This show premeired on March 4th 2016, and was a wonderful success. Now this time around we want to go even further, give even more, and help more! There were 14 choreographers involved, and 2 singers who all volunteered their time and talents. To be able to give even more I need sponsors like you, who believe in fighting this battle together! Together we can do more! The costs of putting on a show run into the final donations unless there is help to get the show costs covered. My dream is to donate ALL the ticket sales and any extra money donated during the show. My dream is definitely in reach with your help! Let us work together to use art and creativity to help heal ourselves, and those around us.
If you sponsor this show, your name/company logo will be on programs and other promotional material. Not a single sponsor will go without public thank yous! You will be invited to the show, or someone from your company so you can witness the magic that this event can bring. This is not an everyday event, this event has so much potential to give!
My name is Michelle Crossman, I'm a 26 year old dancer, teacher, choreographer. My whole life has been spent performing, and creating. I believe art is all forms gives us the best outlets for our emotions, stories, and ideas. This show "Let The Elephants Dance" is near and dear to my heart, this is the first show I have ever produced, and it is dedicated to my cousin Laura who I miss and love very much.
