About the event
This ball is the culmination of 5+ years of hard work for our budding new doctors, about to graduate and enter the world of work in medicine. In June 2024, guests will be asked to dress to impress as this group of 250 medical students graduates, after years of dedication, voluntary work in the NHS and sacrifice and we are trying to organise a fantastic celebration which they will remember fondly forever. The 2 day event includes a hotel stay at Slaley Hall, Hexham with meals, fun activities and a formal ball on night 2 to say goodbye to this period of our life.
Why should you sponsor?
This group has endeavoured through years of lockdowns and interrupted university experiences, as well as the cost of living crisis in the UK and witnessing the difficulties doctors face in the NHS, leading to months of strike action which has impacted our education. On top of this, in our final year of medicine the UK student loans company drops our living loan to 2/3s of what is given to us in earlier years, making this a hard year, financially, and educationally as we prepare for our final medical exams. Students are paying to attend this event, but we are in need of sponsors to help with the costs of venue hire, entertainment, food, drink and photography to help students commemorate this event.
Freya PalmerMy name is Freya, and I am a final year medical student helping to organise this graduation ball celebration for my fellow 5th years. I have spent 6 years working in voluntary roles as a student representative, organising medical society award nights and our earlier 'Halfway Graduation Ball'. This event and medical school as a whole, is something I never dreamed I would attend, as the first generation of my family to go to university, with no doctors in the family, and coming from an impoverished area. I am aiming to make this event as inclusive as possible, by reducing ticket prices from last years event so that more students are able to attend. For this goal, I need help from sponsors, and I am open to any offers you may have, so please get in touch!

We are looking for a drinks company to provide drinks to our guests at our 2 day celebratory event. We would be looking for alcoholic drinks and some non-alcoholic drinks, including wine, alcopops, soft drinks and water. If instead of a financial contribution your company would like to send drinks for our event, this would be acceptable so please get in touch! In return for offering financial sponsorship, we would put your logo on our event ball tickets, which we expect students to keep as mementoes of their time at medical school. We are also offering welcome bags to all guests, in which we could put some of your advertising materials, or free samples, whatever you would like. There will be approx 200 guests at our event in the UK.
