KASAYSAYAN - Baybayin Workshop,

Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines

  • About the event

KASAYSAYAN is a workshop (Baybayin Workshop) where we raise awareness and teach High School students about the ancient script or writing system of the Tagalogs. Some Filipino high school students are now in the “exploration stage” where they search for their interests and new ideas to do or to learn from. Some of them learn new languages and scripts that are not very Filipino. By this workshop, we will encourage them to learn a new script, the Baybayin, and they will have fun while learning it because activities are prepared for the attendees.

This activity will be under SDG 4: Quality Education. The workshop will not just be a normal workshop. We will make sure the students will learn something from this activity and continue to apply Baybayin wherever they are.

SDG 4 has ten targets but KASAYSAYAN will target 4.5 and 4.6.

SDG 4.5 is about eliminating discrimination in education. This workshop will not tolerate any kinds of discrimination and it will be open to all. If there’s a foreigner attendee, he/she is welcome.

SDG 4.6 is achieving universal literacy and numeracy. As Filipinos, we need to learn at least the basics of our ancient script. And  Baybayin is becoming a hot issue. In fact, it was approved by the House committee as the National Writing System.

    Why should you sponsor?

This workshop will support Filipino culture and encourage Filipino students to love their own culture. You should help us by sponsoring this event therefore you and our organization will be the tools for the students in identifying and knowing their own culture.

This event supports UN Sustainable Development Goal #4 which is quality education. We want this event at least in line with UN SDGs therefore it will be significant to all attendees, organizers and sponsors.

I am Al-noor Hadjimanan, the project head of this event. I am a volunteer in this organization since 2017. We did some projects before like giving stuffed toys to kids and organized a Christmas party for kids, too. I am doing this project because I've seen many Filipino youths forgetting their own roots. I want to introduce Baybayin to them because it is our old writing system and I want to give them the knowledge of writing it and knowing the history behind the Baybayin.

If you are interested in sponsoring this event, you can contact me in my gmail account:
