Named one of Country Living Magazine and Flea Market Style Magazine's top vintage events in the US, Junk Hippy has produced rockin vintage festivals all over Oklahoma and Texas since 2012!  What was created in the garage of Shawn and Kristen Grandi in Oklahoma City, OK has turned into a nationally recognized brand and to this day remains family-owned and operated.  

You can find about 8-10 Junk Hippy events each year, with the original home-base biannual event in Oklahoma City and events all over Texas.  Each event holds between 150-300 vendors with everything from vintage and retro furniture, antiques, midcentury decor, architectural salvage, industrial and bohemian finds, and handmade goods.  Local food trucks and live music complete the festival vibe.  

Junk Hippy has a grassroots beginning...the company was created without the help of investors, loans, sponsors or even a credit card.  Now, approaching the start of their 8th year, the Grandis are ready to take their business to the next level and are looking for sponsors who align with their values.

Junk Hippy was created and operates on this foundation -

* Authenticity and originality - Junk Hippy thrives on and always strives to be unique; it was the only event of its kind in the region when it was created.  There have been 17 JH vendors create "spin-off" events" to date.  Remaining true to their originality is what drives the Grandis to expand Junk Hippy and continue to grow to new heights with Junk Hippy as a nationally known lifestyle brand.

* Kindness - "be nice or leave" is actually written in the vendor contract and has been since the beginning.

* Community - 8-10 booths at each JH event are donated to selected vendors who are either starting their business or facing hardships.  In the last seven years, over $67,000 in booth spaces has been donated to vendors.  

* Positive energy & atmosphere - Junk Hippy promotes a light and positive atmosphere at their events through each of these tenets.  A strong spiritual base is what created this business from nothing and is something the Grandis do not take for granted.  Faith is what pushed them to create a business after the loss of their home (2010 recession) and build it from scratch with literally not a dime to their name.  "Faith is taking the first step even when you can't see the whole staircase" - Martin Luther King, Jr

My name is Kristen Grandi.

I'm 39 years old and live in Oklahoma City, OK with my husband Shawn and our two girls, Morgan and Fin.

Before we started Junk Hippy, I was painting furniture out of our garage.  Every day, I would drag everything out and clean, sand, prep and paint rescued pieces of vintage furniture that I had dragged home from garage sales, estate sales, thrift stores and even the curb on big trash day.  I sold these pieces along with my vintage finds online and at every local craft show I could find.  After doing a huge local art/craft show, I told Shawn that we needed a place that had our vibe, and our style.  These craft shows were ok but just not what I was looking for.  We decided to jump and created Junk Hippy.  I booked a building at the state fairgrounds here in Oklahoma City and in 3 weeks all vendor spaces were sold out.  We found out quickly that so many other people were hungry for this too.

Since 2012, we have created a family of vendors who travel with us to our shows.  We've earned a reputation of being fair, honest and trustworthy, kind and treating people like family.  Vendors call us at night and ask for advice on troubles in life.  We've celebrated holidays with so many of them.  We've donated spaces when their husbands were laid off and these shows became their sole source of income.  This is more than an event.  It has become a way of life, a family, and a tradition.  We are just asking for your help now so we can grow.  I never do anything "half ass".  Junk Hippy is no exception.  I never did this to be mediocre.  It's time to grow and my fire is lit.  If you feel moved by what we are doing, please join us.
