JOHANNINE YOUTH FEST (JYF),

About the event

The fest not only provides youth with a platform to perform but is “By the youth, for the youth” that is the youth also organise the entire event which teaches them a lot such as marketing, branding, teamwork, technicals of sound and light, logistics and public relations, to name a few. In spite of the fest being only 3 years old, it is extremely sought after, what began with just 6 parishes in the first year climbed up the ladder to 15 parishes last year and in this year is open to all parishes across Mumbai which is a total of 117 parishes. The fest attracts youth from churches across Mumbai to participate as well as renowned guest and dignitaries. The footfalls for last year was about 1000 individuals per day, which is expected to rise, keeping in mind the increase of participants in the fest.

Global climate change has already had observable effects on the environment. Glaciers have shrunk, ice on rivers and lakes is breaking up earlier, plant and animal ranges have shifted and trees are flowering sooner thus the motive through this fest is of spreading awareness of climate change which can drastically impact the future of each one of us.

St. John the Baptist Church, Thane is one with a vast heritage, dating back to the 1600’s. As a parish, we are committed to guide our youth to achieve excellence through holistic development and being pioneers of moral and strength of the future.
