Ivy Blue: Broken Blue Skies US Tour,

United States United States

  • About the event

“I wanted to do some shows that were as personal and as intimate as possible with the goal of sharing my stories with audiences in ways that I have never done before. And doing this tour allows me to fulfill that goal. The show is just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music; and it follows the story of my life with Autism and ADHD and some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way. All of this together to provide an entertaining evening and to connect with audiences about this journey while bringing some hope into people’s lives. In a world just coming out of a pandemic, the world needs a little hope right now”. James Brodie (Ivy Blue)

Broken Blue Skies is a show built around Ivy Blue's music and journey with Autism and ADHD, detailing his struggles with mental health issues while growing up in country town New Zealand and finding his voice. Ivy Blue serves as the narrator of the story and offers insight into his journey through sharing stories and moments from his life and performing solo and reimagined versions of his back-catalog using a piano, his guitar, and his voice to tell his story. Running for 90 minutes and accompanied by video projections, this show is a moving and uplifting story that gives you a first-hand insight into the world of Autism and ADHD through music and storytelling at it's finest. Originally scheduled for a short tour in 2020 (prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic), tickets to the tour in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York had been 70% sold and a performance at Camp Sequoia (one of the top camps for Autisitc and ADHD children) was fulyl lcoked in. It is strongly anticipated that this demand will carry over to these rescheduled dates and new shows that have been added to fill in the gpas of our 2022 Tour Schedule.

    Why should you sponsor?

This tour will mark Ivy Blue's first ever concert tour in the United States and the opening leg of the Broken Blue Skies Tour. Previous plans for tours in 2017 and 2020 were pushed back due to logistical issues and the COVID19 pandemic. With this new show and the blend of musical and storytelling entertainment, this is a unique ticket in the current touring landscape and a powerful story to be heard as we come out of the COVID-19 pandemic. Unlike previous shows that James has presented, this production will see James performing solo and stripped down performances in intimate venues as he shares his stories about living with Autism and ADHD. This is also Ivy Blue's first concert tour since the pandemic began and his former label Swerrdmedia Music folded in late 2021. This means that we do not have any label support to help fund our rescheduling obligations and this significantly impacts our ability to reschedule the tour in the United States as per existing obligations. This means that for the first time, we are asking for sponsorship of our events to help us bring the show to the United States sustainably. With a focus on Autism Awareness from an Autistic perspective; these shows intend to educate audiences about Autism and ADHD from James's perspective and through his music, which helps to link the stories and lessons James has learned to the audiences. No other active tour at this time incorporates these elements into their live shows and allows this intimate of a look into their lives and struggles for the audience's own interpretation. Each show costs on average will cost $1700-$3000 to present, with an estimated $31,000 needed to fully fund the tour. Funds from sponsorship will be used to cover venue hire ((inclusive of technical requirements), travel costs, and promotional campaigns to . Your contributions will allow us to be able to sustainably present this tour to audiences young and old across America. Invoices and reporting will be available to you as expenses are paid from your sponsorships and you can choose to sponsor specific events or contribute to the tour in general. The choice is yours.

    James Brodie

Ivy Blue (real name James Brodie) is a musician from Te Aroha, New Zealand with Autism, ADHD, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). James started singing about his life and his experiences with his mental health issues in 2014 on the advice of his counselor, but has long had a love for music and since then he has recorded his music alongside The Stanley Ave Band and has followed his passions for music and uses them to help educate people about mental health through his own experiences both on records and at live shows. By singing about his life and the challenges he faces, James has had the opportunities to play in Europe and New Zealand and has performed in 11 countries subsequently. Until recently, James was also releasing mini-album projects independently until partnering with Swerrdmedia Music Group to release his full-length debut "Wasting Daylight" in 2021. His second studio album "Voyages" will be released on March 4th 2022, with his 3rd album "Midnight Memories" to follow in May 2022. Both albums will be released independently following the abrupt dissolution of Ivy Blue's former label. And following two years of COVID-19 related disruptions, Ivy Blue is returning to the road in 2022 with his rescheduled Broken Blue Skies Tour.
