About the event

The Isko You Think You Can Dance 5 (IYTYCD) is a ballroom interclass competition and culmination activity for PE students of Latin, Modern Ballroom, South American Social Dance classes, together with the PE Majors. In the past, IYTYCD featured competitors from schools from all around the country, but since the birth of UP Diliman Dancesport Cup, IYTYCD became a ballroom event exclusive to the ballroom dancing students. The project seeks to instill a high standard of dancing for the PE classes while fostering camaraderie through friendly competition. It is also an avenue for PE students to experience the dynamics of a dancesport competition.

For IYTYCD 5, we will be having a Dance Congress in the morning with the theme “Strut, Sway, Swirl” featuring top professionals, competitors to give a beginner and advanced classes for the UP community and for the dancesport enthusiasts invited for this event.

Through this event, the public and the students will be educated on the specifics of Dancesport. By inviting ballroom dancing students from our own university to compete in an international format of Dancesport competition, PE students and the audience will experience the true essence of Dancesport. The overall objective of this event is for everyone including members, trainees, and the UP community to experience dancesport. Another objective is to provide new avenues for learning for all ballroom enthusiasts. To achieve this goal, the dance congress will be held to heighten the appreciation for competitive ballroom dancing.

This is a whole day event full of students so it is sure that they are not an audience that will just come and go. Because of this, the audience will most likely remember you/your product/your services.Helping this event is helping for an educational cause, through helping a community learn something new, health cause, through promoting healthy lifestyle by finding a new hobby, and cultural cause, through helping instill culture through dance which people in this generation tend to neglect.

The UP Dancesport Society is a university-based organization that aims to encourage individuals in developing an active interest in social dancing through offering events related to ballroom dancing not only to the University of the Philippines' community but also to outsiders who share the same love for ballroom.
