About the event
A chorus of young women hosting a music festival to introduce and further the experience of Barbershop singing is seeking funding to cover operating expenses. We are a newly established chorus, 501(c)(3) non profit educational group, with limited funds who would like to share our love of a cappella singing with other girls in the surrounding area.
We will host iSing a Cappella on September 12, 2015, which is a one-day festival for young women ages 11 – 25. This is an educational opportunity to teach others about the American art form of barbershop singing and give them the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned in an End of Event Show. The Participants will be rehearsed and taught techniques by trained professionals and internationally experienced and award-winning performers in this genre. The Clinicians will focus on proper vocal production, ear training, and performance skills necessary to advance and foster an appreciation for the American musical art form of Barbershop Harmony. (girl scouts can also earn their YWIH patch at this event) These professional clinicians come at a cost, which is difficult for this young chorus to fund. We are responsible for paying their travel expenses, lodging and meals. We have raised $1,185.00 through fundraising and individual sponsors so far but are far below what we hope to raise.
In our planning we have estimated the cost per participant at about $35.00. However, we do not want this to deter participation for those who cannot afford to pay this amount and are currently charging participants $25.00 for this event but would like to make it the cost for participants $15.00. That is why we are requesting sponsorship. With sponsorship we will be able to offset the cost per participant and still cover operating cost.
