IOT//EDI (Edinburgh),

Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom

  • About the event

    INTRODUCTION

IOT//EDI (Internet of Things Conference) is a one day event all about connected devices. We'll cover everything from commercial drones, to wearables (smartwatches, fitness trackers, virtual reality), and smart home technology.

It is estimated that by 2020 there will be 50 billion connected devices in operation world-wide, commonly referred to as the Internet of Things (IoT), however we also like the term "Web 3.0".

Industry analysts predict that sales of smart wearable devices will generate $23 billion in revenue, commercial drones $1.5 billion, smart home technology $40-60 billion, and the Industrial IoT, $210 billion!

The aim of the event will be to explore which Internet of Things (IoT) technologies will most likely have the greatest impact on consumers, business, industry and the environment as well as examine what social, technological, economic, environmental and political issues may arise as a result.

Attendees will hear domain experts discuss their views across a wide range of sectors from oil and gas, agriculture, environmental and conservation, logistics, health and fitness, fashion, home security and automation, transport and much more.

    THE FORMAT

The theme will change throughout the day (please see schedule and agenda). There will be two morning sessions that will have a more business to business focus. The first will relate to commercial drones, also known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), or Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UASs), and the second will relate to the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).  The two afternoon sessions will be geared more towards consumer IoT technologies. The first will cover wearables (smartwatches, fitness trackers, smart clothing etc), and the second will cover smart home technologies.  The agenda is evolving all the time, so is subject to change as a result of feedback from potential attendees, and speakers.
