IMC3 is a competitive multimedia conference for high school students held on the campus of The University of West Alabama.
The University of West Alabama is a nonprofit organization which thrives off of donations from alumni and larger companies. UWA started its Integrated Marketing Communications program in the fall of 2012. The university has seen a spike in admissions, particularly in the IMC major. We want to keep that number growing, by hosting our first ever IMC3 Event to benefit future students.
The conference includes six competitions for the students to compete in for a $500 scholarship. The competitions include Graphic Design, News report writing, News Anchoring, Photography, Video Editing, and Public Relations.
The conference will also have several breakout session speakers for the students and faculty to attend. The speakers are professionals in the multimedia field and will encourage students to realize the importance of multimedia in the workforce. Our goal is to make sure that high school students have knowledge of the importance of multimedia in many companies' futures.
Public Relations- Using Microsoft Word, students will have 90 minutes to respond to a crisis communication scenario.
Graphic Design- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator) is used to design an 8.5“ x 11” ad in 2 hours.
News Writing- Students attend a press conference and write a news story in AP style using Microsoft Word.
News Anchoring- In the UWA TV studio, students read a 1-minute broadcasting script on camera.
Photography- Provided with Canon cameras, assignment, and student guide, students have 1-hour to shoot and 1-hour to edit and upload their best photo in the UWA Mac Lab.
Video Editing- In the UWA video-editing lab, students have 1-hour to create a 1-minute news package using iMovie and provided footage.
We are searching for sponsors to help pay for the event signage, luncheon, and other supplies needed to make the event run smoothly. This event is free to all students and we would like to keep it that way in order for more opportunities for more students to attend the event. All sponsorships will be advertised in event signage and also in the event program.
The Integrated Marketing Communications program has a 100% job placement rate as of today, so the market for an employee with our curriculum's skillset is extremely high. We want to instill that token of knowledge to our conference's attendees with the help of your sponsorship.
