  • About the event

Most individuals only see music through a narrow-minded lens – performance. This is inevitable, seeing as public school music education emphasizes orchestral performance through the learning of an instrument and the playing of classical and modern repertoire. While this is by no means bad (in fact, it is absolutely essential), it fails to look at music’s broader applications to everyday life. This conference aims to explore the interdisciplinary applications of music and how it is creating a better world, from technology, to therapy, to music business, and to its intersections with social issues. With 4 speakers and 3 workshops, this full-day conference taking place March 10th, 2019 at the Ted Rogers School of Management will empower individuals to see music with a broader lens and use it as a device for change.

    Why should you sponsor?

At Conchordium and OppOrg, we realize that as a growing business, you want to increase your exposure to high schoolers (and potential lifelong customers) all across Toronto. You also want to build goodwill in the community, and establish yourself as a socially responsible brand. This is why as a sponsor, you can leverage these key benefits:

    • Connect with young high school and university students in the GTA. With around 100 students from various high schools and universities in Toronto, you can use this event to give back to the community.

    • Support a youth organization and its members in the GTA. By supporting us, you are promoting growth in the youth organization sector, and helping youth reach their full potential.

    • Promote your company by advertising your products and/or services with a booth. At the end of the event, there will be a networking session with booths and a performance. You will have the ability to showcase your services to an emerging market of Millennials.

    • Be featured on our Instagram and Facebook page. Want to increase your social media presence with young individuals? This is the perfect way to do so.

    • Increase awareness of the arts at a time where funding is at risk for cuts. Multiple studies have highlighted the benefits of arts education. At a time where funding is at risk for cuts, your contributions will help ensure the arts continues to thrive in Toronto.

In the past year, we have gained traction with two successful initiatives: Propel: A Series of University Admission Webinars and Tell the Ministry of Education: Protect Music Ed! You can read more about these initiatives in the sponsorship package attached.

    Conchordium Toronto

Conchordium is a youth organization that aims to serve as a network for young musicians in the Greater Toronto Area. This is done through events such as this one, which promote different approaches to music besides performance, as well as inquiries that look into the specific issues surrounding young musicians in the GTA.

At Conchordium, we realize that one doesn't have to forego their musical passions to follow their ambitions. We believe in building a network that can house young musicians of all kinds, and where one can grow as they choose. We also believe in fostering an interdisciplinary approach to music that allows for young musicians to continue their craft for years to come.

OppOrg is an organization looking to bring individuals together and give them opportunities to network and volunteer, explore their interests, and express themselves creatively. As a rebrand of the previously active youth initiative, Markham Getting Together, OppOrg focuses beyond MGT’s arts and charity impacts, with additional focus on inspiring community members through self discovery.
