  • About the event

I am running a mental health awareness and awards event "In Bloom Not Broken" in Birmingham at the Bierkeller who have backed this event and offered their venue, for the Midlands area to both raise awareness and recognise achievement within mental health.

The event itself is open to those UK wide and will have online reach also. The event will take place on 16/05/2019 in conjunction with Mental Health Awareness Week.

The event will have a awards covering a variety of things such as for those that have overcome adversity with mental illness and gone on to help others, professionals that have gone above and beyond to make a difference to someones wellbeing and also to others that deserve recognition in a variety of areas relating to mental illness. It will be an uplifting event aiming to offer hope to those struggling with mental illness and inspire others including awards, speakers, entertainment and a raffle to raise money for the charity.

We have a number of speakers with lived experience of mental illness including an amputee who lost all four limbs and has battled mental illness, someone who has lost theor husband to PTSD related suicide to speak about how she has dealt with this, a multi award winning gymnast with a rare disease who also battles severe depression and more who I believe will really inspire others and offer hope and tackle stigma head on.

Previously I have done other projects to raise awareness on mental illness that have been picked up by the media where I have spoke about my own journey with mental health including newspapers various local radio, including interviews with yourself for the news slots a few times now,  the Victoria Derbyshire show, RT news and my projects have been shared widely online via my own social media channels and the media including ITV central. More recently I was part of the Lloyds Bank #GetTheInsideOut campaign.

I have backing for my projects from two local councillors and the MP who spoke about one of my projects in the houses of parliament recently who will be present as will hopefully The Mayor.

This event will be in mental health awareness week in May so I am confident that it will receive some media coverage also.  We are looking for a sponsor for this and are looking for a company that is interested in supporting a local event that aims to raise awareness on an important topic and give back to the community whilst also raising some money for charity.

The chosen charity will be This Way Up, a Midlands based charity who offer support to young people struggling with their emotions following grief and family break downs.

    Why should you sponsor?

Mental Health Awareness is more important now than ever.

This is an event that will have online coverage as well as local and a great event for a company to be part of to show that they are in support of raising awareness on a very important topic.
