Multiple Myeloma is the 2nd most common blood cancer, yet frequently goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed due to lack of awareness. Nearly 100,000 Americans are living with multiple myeloma today, with an expected 33,300 to be diagnosed in the next twelve months.
Founded in 1990, the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) is the world’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to finding a cure for multiple myeloma. Multiple myeloma is a complex, and often misdiagnosed, cancer of the bone marrow that attacks and destroys bone. An expected 30,300 people will receive this diagnosis in the next year. The IMF focuses its efforts in four key areas: education, research, support, and advocacy. The IMF serves more than 400,000 patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals in 140 countries, and is the leading international gateway for information and resources in the fight against myeloma.
