IDIA Football League 2016,

About the event

IDIA Football League (IFL) is conceptualized as an annual football tournament in Mumbai, for teams primarily consisting of law firm and legal professionals from corporates. Held for the first time in the year 2014 the tournament is aimed to raise money to sponsor the legal education of IDIA Scholars studying at National Law Universities and other leading law colleges.

This year's edition will be the third edition of the tournament and will feature a 6-a-side tournament with 24 to 30 teams competing for the IFL Trophy and the IFL Plate. Each squad can comprise up to 11 players, and rolling substitutions will be allowed. Each team is assured of playing a minimum of 4 matches (3 matches in the league stage and at least 1 match in the knock-out stage). Matches are expected to last a little over 15 minutes each (with each half lasting 7 minutes, with a break of 2 minutes in between). The teams are also mandatorily required to have at least one female member in the squad

• Apart from the above benefits,  all the sponsors of IDIA Football League 2016 will be will be eligible for tax exemption under Section 80-G of the Income Tax Act and sponsors will be provided a certificate under Section 80–G.

The IDIA project aims to empower underprivileged children by giving them access to quality legal education. It is a charitable trust  founded and initiated by Dr. Shamnad Basheer, a recipient of the Infosys Prize 2014 in Humanities and a former IPR Chair professor at the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata.
