About the event

The Hult Prize was established by Bertil Hult and is an annual, year-long competition that crowd-sources ideas from MBA and college students after challenging them to solve a pressing social issue around topics such as food security, water access, energy, and education. The Hult family - founders of EF Education First - donates USD 1 million in seed capital to help the winning team launch a social enterprise. The Prize is a partnership between Hult International Business School and the United Nations Foundation. President Bill Clinton mentioned it in a 2012 TIME Magazine article about "the top 5 ideas that are changing the world for the better". The Hult Prize has also been referred to as the "Noble Prize for students" by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus.

This year, UMP will be hosting the first-ever prestigious platform for social innovation in the East Coast region, attracting the brightest change-makers from UMP in November 2019. It will bring together 90 bright change-makers with 30 ground-breaking business concepts that will tackle the world's most pressing issues.

The mission of Hult Prize in UMP is to create awareness and increase the number of youths actively involved in solving social issues through their impeccable leadership skills by building and launching a disruptive enterprise that is impact-centered, profit-minded and market-driven. This year's challenge topic will be picked by President Bill Clinton himself and will be announced on September 15th.

Yamona Segar

My name is Yamona and I'm the campus director of Hult Prize in University Malaysia Pahang. I'm currently a final year student in UMP majoring in Energy and Environmental Engineering Technology.

I have also worked with AIESEC in University Malaysia Pahang, where I served as the project director and excelled at pulling off a 6 weeks project, managing a team, organizing weekly roundtable meeting and engaging with externals. I have managed to build a significant leadership quality through this. I am also a member of the department of external affairs of Career Fair 2019 in my university. This active participation has helped me build my communication and presentation skills. I am also currently the president of an environmental club at my university. I have a grip over my computer and language skills as well. In addition to that, I have also managed to utilize my interpersonal skills along with professionalism through my previous experience as an intern in EcoKnights.
