    Howard’s Hottest is an annual competition facilitated by WHBC 96.3 HD3 to show off some of the most talented students at Howard University. It is one of the most anticipated shows of the year, regularly filling an event space with over 1,200 seats. Howard’s Hottest allows preselected producers, artists, and DJ’s to showcase their music and receive live feedback on their work. In the end, a panel of industry judges will crown the “hottest” hip hop artist, producer, or DJ.

    Celebrating its 43rd Anniversary, WHBC 96.3 HD3, Howard University’s student operated radio station, has been serving the Howard University community since 1975. Founded in 1975, WHBC began as a subsidiary of Howard University Radio, Television and Film Department in the Howard University John H. Johnson School of Communications (now, the Cathy Hughes School of Communication), serving as a learning laboratory for students. With guidance from its parent station WHUR 96.3 FM, WHBC 96.3 HD3 has developed into a powerhouse for urban contemporary music, targeting over 10,000 Howard University students ages 18-34.

    WHBC 96.3 HD3 a is major component of outreach for Howard University, providing the Howard community with Urban contemporary music, compelling and relevant up-to-date news, exciting shows and programs, and talented on-air personalities 24 hours a day. WHBC 96.3 HD3 has the campus’ ear and is a part of the Howard student collegiate lifestyle. WHBC has expanded its capabilities in this digital age by embracing social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat, and can now be played off-campus on any smart device through a free mobile application.
