About the event
It's a Sock Hop Galore and All Are Invited!:
What makes America great: It's foundation on the concept of unity and coming together. With the surge of racial intolerance and increasing divides, being displayed in the media, this has threatened this very idea. Thankfully we are gifted with the tools to alter this downward spiral and catapult us into a nation that once again, celebrates interconnectivity : These tools being the brilliant minds of the millennial and Generation Z young people. Join us as take one of America's classic past times and convert in into a celebration (and fundraising opportunity) to get the message of unified admiration, back into the world.
What: This charity event takes the form of a sock hop ( often also called a record hop or just a hop, was an informal sponsored dance event for teenagers in mid-20th-century North America, featuring popular music ) and repopularize it, with a message attached. The Sock Hop form of dancing was chosen, as it found its peek of popularity during an intense shift in race relations in the United States : the Mid-20th century. It is believed by many that education through music and exchange of musical influence itself, enlightened many on the reason to organize. Because of this significance, it stuck out as an original opportunity to do such a thing, again. Hoping away the hate, through musical fun and intermingling!
When: This event takes place the Friday after the conclusion of Thanksgiving ! What better way to jump start the holiday season, than the celebration and excitement of positivity? Sock hop's in the Mid-20th century were prominent during this season., due to the joyous attitude and happiness, which increased the likelihood perception.
Why: In the past year race relations in the United States have spiraled down significantly. The swirl of negative dialogue has been dominated and spearheaded by older generations --- younger generations being forced into silence. This event places the conversation in the hands of young people, providing them the opportunity to make a move, in the positive direction.
