About the event
The Homeboy Industries "Every Angeleno Counts" 5k is an opportunity for us to walk, run, and stand with thousands of former gang-members whose lives are being completely transformed. Every Angeleno can help dispel the myth that some lives matter less than others.
We are closing streets in downtown LA to create a HUGE event for everyone to enjoy and to be a part of our vision that "Every Angeleno Counts!" Start & Finish line at Homeboy Industries!
In addition to the 5K, we will hosting a community event with lots of art, live music, vendors, food truck and lots of activities!
About Homeboy Industries:
For over 25 years, Homeboy Industries, a Los Angeles-based non-profit organization, has provided hope, training and jobs support for formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women committed to redirecting their lives and becoming contributing members of our community. Each year over 12,000 former gang members from across Los Angeles come through Homeboy Industries’ doors in an effort to make a positive change. They are welcomed into a community of mutual kinship, love, and a wide variety of services ranging from tattoo removal to anger management and parenting classes. Full-time employment is offered for more than 200 men and women at a time through an 18-month program that helps them re-identify who they are in the world, offers job training so they can move on from Homeboy Industries and become contributing members of the community - knowing they count!
