About the event

Home en root is an experience like no other. It’s more than a concert — it invites the audience into a shared space. A “mostly-solo show”, it features my personal journey as an International artist and the ultimate search for Home. Having had a unique life journey — including international adoption, violin lessons from age 3, studying violin-making in the Mormon capital of the world, sculpting in NYC, and conducting orchestra in India — I’ve lived a colorful, unique life. 

My ability to traverse so many cultures and people has given me fierce resilience, a true sense of openness and a unique, creative perspective. Home en root is a carefully crafted performance celebrating the beautiful musical traditions I've encountered including Western Classical, Indian Classical, Flamenco, Arabic, Jazz, Latin and Gypsy music. It features my own, original compositions, going beyond the generic "fusion" world music we often hear. At times enhanced by brief narrative and poetry, Home en root speaks with a soul as it’s a story that must be told.  More than a variety show, it will be a tasteful, enjoyable and new experience, intertwining familiar elements in new light. Violin, sarangi, vocals, loopers are just my instruments. Joining me will be these top-notch International artists: Ko Omura from Japan on jazz percussion and tabla; Nirupama Belliappa from Canada on flute, harp, and vocals; Abhay Nayampally from India on Carnatic electric guitar, and Rahul Wadhwani from India on jazz/blues piano.  It will be simultaneously sophisticated, artistic, raw, and accessible — a show I am proud to share. I invite you home.

Why should you sponsor?

Many music concerts-- especially including Western Classical-- seem routine these days. There's a stage, musician, standard lighting and PA system. There's little to no interaction between audience and artists. My show takes the audience on a journey; it gives them a learning experience that is new even in this day and age. Beyond projection mapping and using effects pedals, this show represents a taste of the new, preferred concert experience. It draws people from all backgrounds (artistic and corporate), the older generation appreciating classical music as well as younger, open audiences. It attacts people who share an openess to give and receive, to be impressed. It's a genuine, artistic endeavor and should be recognized monetarily.

Sarah is a highly qualified artist, composer, teacher and mentor with violin training since the age of three (Manhattan School of Music, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Lincoln Center, El Sistema), as well as training in sarangi and Hindustani Classical Music under Pandit Dhruba Ghosh.

I'm a highly organized individual with high standards, incredible integrity, and determination. When I have a vision I see it to the end and am able to incorporate collaborations successfully. There's no show like this in India that I have seen nor abroad. It's unique, authentic, and appealing to Bombay concert-goers.  I know it will be successful with sponsorship, and I know it deserves to be funded.
